Joe Bill got his start performing regularly on WFAA's Saturday Nite Shindig in the early 1950's. The Shindig was a weekly four hour stage show, a four hour radio broadcast on WFAA and NBC Afffiliates, and a 1 hour television broadcast on WFAA-TV. Pictured is an advertisement for the Shindig including Joe Bill found on page 5 of Billboard Magazine (October 3, 1953) featuring Sonny James, Bobby Williamson, Molly Ann Herbert, Bob Shelton, and Curly Sanders.

During the mid 1950's Joe Bill became a regular performer and emcee on the Big "D" Jamboree. The show was broadcast live every Saturday night on KRLD radio and TV from the Sportatorium in Dallas. More info on the Big D Jamboree can be found here.
Joe Bill's Country Picnic was a country music variety show aired on KRLD TV Sundays at 12:15PM for 45 minutes each week from February 1955 to September 1957. A reunion record including many of the original performers was recorded in the late 1970's and has been uploaded to the Joe Bills Country picnic Youtube Channel which can be found here.
Through his years in the music and entertainment business Joe Bill made many lifelong friends including Jimmy Fields, Bobby Williamson, Dewey Groom, Boots Bourquin, Clay Allen, George McCoy, and Joe Poovey. Joe Bill remined involved in the music and recording business throughout his life.
